Welcome to the Web pages of the Project of education to the environment of the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC). The project was set up in the year 2003 in the four member States. Focal Points and regional coordinators were designated by the Ministry of education and by the Ministry of the environment respectively, to sensitise teachers and students to the protection and the management of the environment.

In spite of the differences existing between the countries, the project has effectively made use of the knowledge and expertise of each of these countries to create the synergies necessary for an effective behavioural change.

The pilot stage has proved to be conclusive, and the IOC is implementing a strategy leading to the establishment of an excellence centre in education for thespecific sustainable development of our islands.
